Today’s recipe is one of my favorites. Â Maybe it is because of the name (nothing says way too much fun cooking than pizza bubbles) or because I absolutely LOVE pizza, but for whatever reason you should definitely try it. Â Grab your kids (I cooked it for the first time with my nieces) and get everyone in the kitchen.
I do have to admit though. Â This is not my recipe. Â I did not even adjust it. Â Not that I am one for writing my own recipes since that is definitely not my gift, but I usually adjust them some. Â I got this recipe from Pillsbury’s mailing list. Â They periodically send me emails with recipes in them and this one just spoke to me. Â If you do not get their emails, you totally should.
Okay…so let’s get started. Â After turning on some Aerosmith (what other music would you use with pizza?) I got out my ingredients and got to work.
Ingredients:
- 6 to 8 tablespoons butter, melted  (I use an entire stick of unsalted butter so I have extra to pour on top and I melt it in the microwave because I am lazy and do not want to get another pot dirty.)
- 1Â teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2Â teaspoon garlic powder
- 2Â Â cans (12 oz each) refrigerated biscuits (just use the normal ones, not the big ones)
- 40Â small slices pepperoni (about 3 oz)
- 8Â oz mozzarella cheese, cut into 20Â pieces
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 1/4Â cups pizza sauce, heated
How to make it:
- Heat oven to 350°F
- Spray a bundt pan with cooking spray.
- In small bowl, mix melted butter, Italian seasoning and garlic powder
- Set up an assembly line of all of your ingredients (This is where extra hands are very helpful and it’s fun to get messy.)
- Separate 1 can of dough into 10 biscuits and press each one into about a 3-inch round.  I just use the palm of my hand.  I guess you could be more precise, but why! 🙂
- Place 2 pepperoni slices in center of each biscuit.
- Top each with piece of mozzarella cheese.
- Bring dough up around filling, press edge to seal (like a pocket), and shape each into ball. It reminds me of playing with play-dough. Â Just bring yourself back to your younger days.
- Roll the dough in butter mixture and place in the pan.
- Continue doing this until you have used up the first 10 biscuits (one tube).
- Sprinkle dough balls with Parmesan cheese. Â This is one of the two places I venture from the original recipe. Â I don’t measure cheese. Â What’s the point? Â You really cannot have too much. Â I just keep sprinkling it on until I am happy.
- Repeat the steps with the remaining can of biscuits placing the second can of balls on top of the ones already in the pan.
- Pour remaining butter mixture over top.
- Here is the second place I venture…I totally sprinkle more parmesan on top. Â It’s good that way.
- Bake 33 to 38 minutes or until deep golden brown.
- Cool for 5 minutes.
- Â Gently loosen bread from sides of pan.
- Place large heatproof plate upside down over pan, turn plate and pan over, and carefully dump out the bubble goodness.
- Serve warm with warm pizza sauce for dipping.  I’m sure you could use ranch too just have not tried that yet.  Ranch is good on everything though. 🙂
*I have used sausage and hamburger instead of pepperoni.  It really is good any way. 🙂
